Power Electronics Lab
IIT Madras.
Motor testing, drive characterization, and control systems research at IIT Madras. Dynamometer test facility for motor efficiency mapping, thermal rise testing, and endurance validation. IITMIC incubation partner.
Motor and drive characterization at world-class standards.
The IIT Madras Power Electronics Lab provides specialized motor testing and drive characterization capability for Power Flux AI prototype validation. As an IITMIC (IIT Madras Incubation Cell) partner, Power Flux AI collaborates with faculty on motor design research and has access to the dynamometer test facility for full characterization of prototype motors and drive systems. The lab is particularly strong in motor efficiency mapping, thermal characterization, and endurance testing — critical validation steps for every motor development program.
What this lab enables.
Efficiency Map Measurement
Full torque-speed efficiency map measurement using dynamometer loading. Loss separation — copper loss, iron loss, mechanical loss. Efficiency map generation for motor datasheet and digital twin calibration.
Thermal Rise & Endurance Testing
Motor winding temperature rise testing under continuous load. Class F and Class H insulation thermal endurance protocols. Bearing temperature monitoring. Hot-spot temperature mapping via embedded thermocouples and IR imaging.
Drive Control Validation
Motor drive control loop tuning and validation. Step response, ramp response, and load disturbance rejection measurement. Speed and torque accuracy verification across full operating range.
Motor Design Research
Joint research with IIT Madras faculty on novel PM motor topologies, winding optimization, and AI-enhanced motor design methodologies. Access to FEA software and advanced motor design tools.
Noise, Vibration & Harshness
Motor NVH measurement — acoustic emission, vibration spectrum analysis, order tracking. Critical for HVAC and automotive applications where noise specification is mandatory.
IITMIC Startup Ecosystem
Access to IITMIC incubation — mentorship, lab infrastructure, IIT Madras alumni network, and technology transfer support.
